In the Old West, Cat Stevens, wounded and hunted by Finch’s men, finds refuge in a circus. The artists offer him their protection and when they hit the road again, Cat comes with them

The adventures of the young Rémi, an orphan, collected by the gentle Madam Barberin. At the age of 10 years, he is snatched from his adoptive mother and entrusted to the signor Vitalis, a mysterious itinerant musician. Has its sides, he will learn the harsh life of acrobat and sing to win his bread. Accompanied by the faithful dog capi and of the small monkey Joli-Coeur, his long trip through France, made for meetings, friendships and mutual assistance, leads him to the secret of its origins.

The story of Raju, considered the best circus clown ever. Ever since Raju’s father died in an accident during his performance, Raju’s mother had been repulsed by the circus. As luck would have it, Raju had a natural affinity towards the circus world. The film traces Raju’s journey from his childhood to the day of his last performance.

A few days after the end of World War II, 11-year-old orphan Julius is on the run from the destroyed city of Berlin. Julius and formerly imprisoned communist Kaiser both stumble on a horse in a forest and report it to the Soviet commander in a nearby town. They are given jobs at a traveling circus which has set up camp on the outskirts, and Kaiser is even appointed ringmaster. Since it is very expensive to feed the circus main attraction, a lion, Kaiser thinks of using the horse as food. Julius, however, is horrified by this idea and runs away with the horse.

A college student becomes lab assistant to a scientist who is working on a serum that can transform humans into snakes.

The story takes place in the Big State Circus in Moscow where two international groups arrive simultaneously: a jury searching for outstanding numbers for the World Circus festival and a delegation of animal language scientists.

In 1885, Buffalo Bill prepares his Wild West Show and Chief Sitting Bull agrees to join in, after having been captured by the military. But when the President of the United States comes to see the show, the Indian chief slightly changes his plans…

Here Fellini presents a portrait that goes against the traditional notion of Casanova as an enlightened gadabout. A stark look at the man’s loneliness, as the respect for which he yearns is constantly undermined by his more basic urges.
