London, summer 1914. Calvero, once a famous London stage clown is now a washed-up drunk. One day he saves his young neighbour and ex-dancer Theresa (« Terry ») from suicide and nurses her back to health. Terry having lost the use of her legs doesn’t enjoy life anymore. His doctor tells Calvero that her paralysis is mostly psychological. Theh old clown decides to bring his pretty neighbour enough renewed joy for her to walk again and regain her zest for life…

French TV show produced by Gilles Margaritis and dedicated to circus, recorded mostly in the Paris Cirque d’hiver and broadcasted every Wednesday evening on RTF Television, then on ORTF first channel (March 11, 1954 – December 1974) then on Antenne 2 (January 1975 – October 29, 1978). Presented in the prestigious Paris Cirque d’hiver, the show was directed by Pierre Tchernia and hosted by Michel Francini, then by 1965-1978 ringmaster Roger Lanzac. La Piste aux étoiles presented a lot of circus artists each week, accompanied by Bernard Hilda’s big orchestra.
