The Flying Circus is the most famous traveling circus in the country. The artists performing there are equally famous : rope dancer Laurento and snake charmer Ula Kiri. She is in love with him, but her feelings are not reciprocated. As the circus sets up the tent in a new town, Laurento falls in love with another girl and spares no effort to seduce her

Count Willy von Rosenörn was ruined and moves to an hotel for artists. He is hired by circus director Winge and learns the job from Mademoiselle Doré. She persuades him to do the « lethal jump » on horseback from a platform hoisted high up in the circus dome, with a final firework next to him and his horse.

Copenhagen. Two poor boys are sold to a circus. They practice with two girls and their first show is a success. Years later, as young adults they still work together, but jobs are getting harder and harder to find. A countess invites one of the young men to her house and seduces him. One of the girls, who is in love with him, follows them…

Rich jeweler Hirsch and Count von Waldberg are both wooing Stella, who opts for the latter. Hirsch turns up uninvited at a party, saying he wants to give Stella a piece of jewelry, but he gets rejected. He then challenges the count to a card duel and wins. To help Waldberg who got into a huge debt, Stella goes at Hirsch’s house to steal a precious necklace from him, but Hirsch sees the theft in a mirror and blackmails her. A story of jealousy between two men who eventually both lose Stella, killed by accident.

The piano teacher Magda Vang meets the young and handsome Knud Svane, they fall in love. She is invited to spend the summer with him and his parents at a vicarage in Gjerslev. Outside the vicarage a circus troupe passes by, and Magda is saluted by the performer Rudolph Stern. On night Rudolph climbs a ladder ti Magda’s bedroom. She tries to fend him off, but…
