The story of Raju, considered the best circus clown ever. Ever since Raju’s father died in an accident during his performance, Raju’s mother had been repulsed by the circus. As luck would have it, Raju had a natural affinity towards the circus world. The film traces Raju’s journey from his childhood to the day of his last performance.

Since early childhood, Fellini is attracted and even subjugated by the circus. Here he sort of goes on a wistful journey towards former clowns and their memories.

Young Kirill wishes to work at the circus with his cat Tisha. He tries to train him, all his pals follow suit in that adventure and then, one day, they meet a clown.

The owner of a circus decides to swap his trained bears for trained pigs, and fires clown Cibulka. The ckown gets a job at a local school, bears escape and seek him out and a school inspector comes into town.

In a circus, Tati playing a ringmaster presents a series of attractions. In between he revives his former mime artist acts: the tennis player, the boxer, the goalkeeper, the horserider, the angler.

The story takes place in the Big State Circus in Moscow where two international groups arrive simultaneously: a jury searching for outstanding numbers for the World Circus festival and a delegation of animal language scientists.

In 1885, Buffalo Bill prepares his Wild West Show and Chief Sitting Bull agrees to join in, after having been captured by the military. But when the President of the United States comes to see the show, the Indian chief slightly changes his plans…
